Monarch - Posted on 08/31/2007
A monarch butterfly partakes of the sweet nectar of a wingstem blossom. There is a large patch of these wildflowers just to the west of my aunt's barn, and the day this image was taken, it was filled with butterflies. The blossoms are bright yellow, and add wonderful color to the fields and roadsides this time of year.

This coming holiday weekend marks the traditional end to summer for most of us. I wish you all a safe and wonderful weekend, filled with good food, family and friends, and lots of love and laughter. Have a great one! -- Kim

The composition is great and the backcolors are great, but the butterfly needs a little bit more brighter in my opinion. But for the rest well captured. :)

Good eye as usual Kim and with its' wings open!! Between now and the middle of September those Monarchs will be staging here in Kansas for their migration to Mexico. I had several today, but my slow shutter was capturing them with wings open.

Beautiful tones on the flowers and a great capture. As I've told others I have a difficult time with flying insects :)

Monarch butterfly, my favorite. Beautiful shot. A friend of mine just picked a milk plant with the two Monarch caterpillars on it, won't be long now.
