Snowy Barn

Snowy Barn - Posted on 12/19/2007
Another shot from my snowfall a couple weeks ago. I walked out onto the hill to survey the landscape, particularly the view of the old barn and pond down the hill at my aunt's house. I had planned to hike down there to take some shots across the pond of the barn, try and capture the reflections of that scene in the water, but the cold temps had already formed a thin layer of ice on the pond - there were no reflections to be had that day unfortunately. I think it would have been beautiful!

Thanks for the comments on my previous image. I hope all of you are ready for Christmas and enjoying the holiday season with family and friends! -- Kim

You have a lovely piece of property, Kim. I must say it looks a lot colder where you are; everything looks frozen in place! I love the beautiful saturated colors and the composition here, with the trees forming a cozy barrier for the barn and pond. Very nice!

It looks like a great Christmas ... this would make a wonderful card! The red bard reall sets off the image, but I like the whole thing. Such a beautiful place!

Just beautiful. If you hadn't mentioned the pond I may have overlooked it. It seems to disappear into the blue of the shadows above it. The splash of the red barn is just perfect.

Very very nice. The snow sure makes the barn leap out. Excellent shot. You have a great eye.

Beautiful winter scene, Kim. Love the red barn and pond. This place must be especially nice in the spring and summer. You'll have to post some shots then.

The red barn in the blue sunshine. Great winter shot.

That is absolutely beautiful. The contrast between the brick red and the blue shadows and the wonderful white of the snow . . . it's just Perfect! I agree it looks Christmas card -- except it's too pretty to mass mail!

This image whispers peace and tranquility to me. This is a very idyllic scene; one that I would love to wake up to on a snowy, winter morning. I love the pristine, unbroken snow and the texture of the snow laying on the pine trees at the bottom of the hill. The red barn adds a perfect splash of bright color to this. Wonderful shot, Kim.

I took a drive around the mountains a few days ago looking for old farm buildings in the snow... none that I could get close enough to though, great find :)
