Call Of The Wild - Posted on 11/24/2007
This was taken last evening. I had initially gone out to shoot the sunset, but quickly found that the best show was going on behind me, to the east - the full moon was rising above the layer of clouds sitting just above the horizon. As I stood in my front yard, out at the road, I could hear the calls of a hoot owl, softened as it traveled through the trees. From my left came the sounds of my neighbor's cows, mooing and carrying on as they settled in for the night. Last, but not least, from my right came the yips and howls of the coyotes that live in the woods at the bottom of the hill behind my house. All the while, I watched as the sky changed from layers of purple and blue to the dark blue/black of nighttime, the only light coming from the full moon.

Thank you to all of my visitors, both the regular ones and the new ones, for taking the time to visit and leave a comment. I've not had the free time this week to do my "blog walk", but I hope to catch up on all the new images over the next couple of days. Have a wonderful weekend everyone! -- Kim

That is a wonderful shot, Kim. I love the colour. I guess it wouldn't look quite as good if it was B&W ;-)

Beautiful silhouette image, Kim. Like the colors and the shot of the moon too. I always have a problem with blowing out the moon, you did a nice job here.

Hi Kim, thanks for stopping by my blog. I am just discovering yours and enjoying my look around. I often think some of the best skies are in the opposite direction of the sun. A wonderful color gradient and a careful composition make this a very nice image.

Beautiful! You captured that special time before dark when the sky is at its best! The moon makes the photo special.

Absolutely beautyiful...this is what makes a great shot to hang on the wall! We saw the moon rise Saturday afternoon and here, over the plains of Abraham, it looked huge!
  • Susan - 11/26/2007, 11:59 am

This is stunning. The trees silhouetted against the purples and blues of the sky are just beautiful.

Very beautiful! Those colours are so sublime. I've often found the best action is going on behind you... especially with sunsets. I've learned that looking over my shoulder works even when not just paranoid about wildlife!! LOL

    Bonita... muito bonita.

Kim, This is a very peaceful and serene image and you captured the detail in the moon without it becoming a bright white blob. That's a bonus. I'm sad to say that I just discovered your photoblog. After looking at some of your archived images, I regret that I did not discover it much sooner. I will be a regular visitor from hereonin. Beautiful work!
