Reflections - Posted on 09/22/2007
A crisp, clear September morning provided the perfect backdrop for some quiet time down at the pond at my aunt's house last Saturday, which was my birthday. It gave me time to do some reflecting on the events of the past year, and how much my life has changed in that time.

The bank barn you see was built in 1900, and isn't used for very much these days except storage. When I was child, though, it housed the cows, hay and some of the farm equipment that my grandfather used. It was also a favorite place for my cousin and I to hide in.

Thank you to all of my regular visitors, and welcome to all of my new ones - your comments and feedback mean a great deal to me. Have a great weekend everyone! -- Kim

I hope you had a Happy Birthday and your personal reflections were as beautiful as the reflections in the photograph.

Happy birthday. What a great place where you grew up. I was in Boston last week and couldn't wait to get back to my country home. Especially this time of the year, I love the fall. Great picture with beautiful colors and I love the reflection.

Happy Birthday. Great landscape. Wonderful light and I love the reflection. The dark grasses in the foreground work well. I have seen that Ohio sky so many times.

This looks like a great place to sit quietly and think about life. Just the fragrance of the farm must key up a world of memories and feeling. Happy birthday (last week) and thanks, again, for the beautiful images your years have given us.

Thanks so much for the welcome back! I really do hope that I can balance all my commitments! This is such a beautiful photo! I love how you caught the reflection in the water and so vibrantly may I add! I say and pondered this picture for awhile as it gave me such a sense of calm!

A red barn seems to make any landscape come to life, and you did a great job with this one. Do you ever take photos inside the barn?
  • Sean - 09/27/2007, 2:16 am

A vibrant image! One thing you may want to experiment with is cropping out a bit of the sky at the top. This would really tighten up the composition and give the barn that much more "oomph". Not that it isn't an excellent shot already, but I think just an extra nudge will turn it into a real gaper. :-)
